Development Director - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Performance Network Theatre (PNT), Ann Arbor Michigan's regional Equity theatre, seeks a Development Director (DD) to oversee its fundraising efforts. The DD is responsible for creating, maintaining and continuously growing PNT's sources of contributed income, and engaging donors with its mission and programs. DD is responsible for roughly half of the operating budget. (Approx. $500,000 annually.)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential donors, foundations and corporate sponsors, and facilitate their engagement with PNT programs, key staff and board members, and artists
- Create an annual development plan that strategically addresses the financial needs and goals of the organization
- Oversee the implementation of all Development programs such as membership, sponsorship, annual appeal, major individual gifts, special events, sustainer's club, and capital and special campaigns
- Research and write grant proposals to government, corporate and foundation sources
- Maintain relationships with the greater business and philanthropic community by attending a variety of community events, fundraisers and PNT events and performances
- Gather and analyze data and evaluate all current areas of the Development plan, while investigating new trends, ideas and potential programs, in order to continuously hone PNT's fundraising efforts with the Executive Director and Board
- Create a long term development plan (5-year plan) that sets the course for annual development plans and objectives
- Oversee all Development staff members and volunteers, establishing clear expectations, timelines and means of measuring success
- Oversee donor database and stewardship system. Ensure delivery of all donor/sponsor benefits and recognition and promote donor satisfaction and engagement
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must be highly energetic, strategic, hardworking, and a 'roll up your sleeves' kind of person who will carry out and expand Performance Network's fundraising strategy. The position reports to the Executive Director (ED), and reports on all Development programs to the ED and the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of demonstrated success building and leading a development function, ideally at an arts organization.
- Experience and proven track record in garnering major gifts and success in building individual giving.
- Experience and thorough working knowledge of all areas of Development including Corporate gifts, membership, capital and special appeals and fundraising events.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with impeccable writing skills.
- Experience and proven track record in grant writing for the arts.
- Experience in managing and reporting to a Board of Directors.
- Experience in mentoring, managing and motivating staff.
- Strong leadership ability, including management, strategic and analytical skills.
- Strong diplomatic skills and high comfort level needed to work effectively with the development committee and board to bring the organization to its next level of fundraising excellence.
Position available immediately. Salary in the mid 40s based on experience, plus benefits.
